Earning Credits at Richland
Students are referred to Richland High School by his/her home school counselor.
If you are interested in attending Richland, please see your home school counselor.
Enrollment at Richland is based on availability and need.
Student transcripts, credits and needs are assessed individually to determine if Richland is the appropriate placement.
Once enrolled at Richland, all students MUST attend an Orientation (see Registration/Orientation Calendar)
How it works:
- All students take 5 RHS classes and 1 on-campus ROP/CTE class
- Students attend periods 1-6, with the possibility of a 7th period
intervention. - Students may take “after school” ROP classes at Canyon, El Modena, Orange, and Villa Park.
- Richland is on a QUARTER system
- Students earn 5 credits per completed/passed RHS class, ROP/CTE classes are quarter-long courses at Richland
- Students earn 5 credits per class passed (NEW FOR RHS 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR)

Student may also earn additional credit INDEPENDENTLY (outside the school day) the following ways:
- Power Reading: Earn elective credits by reading book from the Richland Library. See Ms. Cook-St. Clair in the Library for more information.
- iSchool: Earn additional credits by taking web-based classes from home. See Ms. Jung for an application
- Career Technical Education: See Mrs. Knox
