Five Orange High School Juniors Selected for
Simon STEM Scholarship Program

ORANGE, CA — April 10, 2015 — Angel Diaz, Nancy Gomez, Michael Juarez, Gage Kizzar and Atmary Martinez have been named as the inaugural group of students selected for the Simon STEM Scholarship Program.

Announced earlier this year, the scholarship program supports the personal and intellectual growth of selected students by placing them within a dynamic educational ecosystem jointly developed through the partnership between Orange High School, Chapman University, and the Simon Foundations.

While attending Orange High School, scholarship recipients will receive a computer, academic support and college-level research experience.  After graduation, they will receive a full scholarship to Chapman University including tuition and housing. 

“I was amazed at the quality and caliber of the finalists we interviewed for the Simon STEM Scholars program.  It was gratifying to witness first-hand the great job Orange High is doing in preparing its students,” said James L. Doti, Chapman University President.

The Simon STEM Scholarship Program is open to selected Orange High School students who major in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) degree and maintain a high grade point average.

Four Orange High School students will be selected for the scholarship program each year and the program is expected to provide $1 million annually to 24 Simon STEM scholars by 2020.
