Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Community Survey 2015-2016

Orange, CA – January 8, 2016 – In June of 2013, the Legislature approved the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), the most sweeping education funding reform in decades. The LCFF represents a historic shift in how California funds public schools. With a focus on local decision-making, equity, accountability and transparency, it lays the foundation for local education agencies to improve student outcomes and increase engagement in schools.

The LCAP is a critical part of the new LCFF which details specific District plans. The Orange Unified School District has engaged parents, staff, and the community to establish these plans. The plans describe the District’s overall vision for students, annual goals and specific actions the District will take to achieve the vision and goals. The plans also demonstrate how the District’s budget will help achieve the goals, and assess each year how well the strategies in the plan were able to improve outcomes.

There are focus areas for which the District, with parent and community input, establishes goals and actions for the plans. The areas of focus are Conditions for Student Learning, Pupil Outcomes and Engagement.  Community members can access on the OUSD Website the LCAP 2015-18 detailed plans and the District Strategic Plan 2015-18, which provides specific information on the goals, actions and services, as well a compilation of the survey input from the second year of planning.

At this time the District continues to collect updated survey information and evaluate the progress of efforts in year two of the LCAP.  The LCAP is a continuous improvement plan aimed at meeting student and community needs.  Several input meetings have occurred and are on-going, listed on the LCFF tab on the OUSD Website.   If you were unable to attend one of the LCAP Community Meetings, you can still give us your input by completing the online survey at the link below.  The survey results will guide our Local Control and Accountability Plan for the 2015-2016 school year and inform decision making in the annual update of the LCAP.
