Villa Park High School Junior Accepted to MIT

Orange, Calif. - February 19, 2016 - Orange Unified School District congratulates Charlie Noyes, a junior from Villa Park High School (VPHS), on his recent acceptance into the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  This hardworking student, applied early action in the fall of 2015 to attend MIT for the 2016-2017 school year. He is currently completing all required coursework, including taking five Advanced Placement courses, this school year to graduate from VPHS in June.

Inspired by his passion for the sciences and his drive to complete his high school coursework quickly, Charlie decided to apply for college in the fall of his junior year. Last spring after winning first place in the Villa Park science fair for his project titled “Fast Anti-Malware Through Distributed Blockchain Consensus and Feedforward Scanning” he then competed at the county level. At this competition, he was one of four students who qualified from Southern California to participate at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh in May of 2015.  After winning first place in Pittsburgh for Best Software category, he was invited to attend the London International Youth Science Forum a prestigious summer camp for students last summer. These honors along with his high standardized test scores and grades attributed to his early acceptance at MIT.

Charlie is a well-rounded student who is a three-year member of the tennis team and active in community service organizations at VPHS.  When not busy studying or playing tennis, he is a voracious reader and has been interested in computers for many years.  He attributes his success in high school to long hours of study and teacher and family support.  Prior to attending VPHS, Charlie attended Cerro Villa Middle School and the Nohl Canyon Gifted and Talented Program.  OUSD congratulates Charlie on this well-deserved accomplishment.
